Abstract

The objective of this research was to reduce the storage costs of canned fish in Inversiones Quiaza S.A.C. The design of the research was of a pre-experimental type, applying it to a sample of five workers, who represented the direct labor in charge of thehandling of fish preserves from the warehouse. Techniques such as surveys and direct observation guides were used to obtain information on the current state of warehouse management; the annual costs per storage unit were determined; With the application of the PHVA methodology, the systematic implementation of the management activities for the warehouse was developed, the System Layout Planning (SLP) methodology was applied to obtain the efficient distribution of the spaces. The main results were oriented towards the optimization of the spaces, which reduced the transfer times in the storage and dispatch activities, which in turn reduced the man hours worked achieving the reduction of direct labor costs. The investigation concluded that the implementation of the warehouse management system reduced storage costs by 14.52%, that is, a saving ofS/. 0.18 per annual box; Dispatch costs were reduced by 7.41%, that is, savings of S /. 0.10 per annual box; the cost per square meter was reduced by 61.61%, that is, a saving of S /. 610.16 per annual square meter.
