Emotional dependence and partner violence in women from Tarapoto City

The study aimed to determine the relationship between emotional dependence and partner violence in women from the Tarapoto district, year 2021, the study methodology was non-experimental, correlational and cross-sectional, the type of sample was probabilistic by convenience and the sample It was made up of 158 participants, where they were administered the Emotional Dependence Inventory prepared by Aiquipa (2012) and the Violence Scale and Severity Index designed by Valdez-Santiago et al. (2006), both instruments had an acceptable level of reliability with values of 0.911 and 0.938 according to Cronbach's alpha coefficient, respectively. The results indicated that there is a statistically significant relationship of a moderate level between the variables of emotional dependence and partner violence rho=0.577** (p <0.000), likewise, emotional dependence was related to the dimensions of the partner violence variable , where, a moderate relationship was found for the dimensions of psychological violence (rho=0.589**), sexual violence (rho= 0.424**), and physical violence (rho= 0.426**), and for the dimension severe physical violence a low positive relationship (rho=0.296**). It is concluded the greater the emotional dependence, the greater the intimate partner violence.
