Abstract

It is briefly described a study carried out on 318 fourth- and fifth-grade high school students from Lima (214 males, mean age=15,78), exploring the strength of three dimensions of indicators of social networking addiction: obsession for social networking (concern and constant attention to what happens in the social networks, including anxiety when connection is not possible), lack of personal control about using social networks (inability to adjust time quantity dedicated to connection and carelessness about other important activities because of being connected) and excessive use of social networks (excessive time in being connected and difficulty to diminish that time). It was employed the Social Networking Addiction Questionnaire from Escurra and Salas (2014). Results indicate in general low levels in the indicators assessed. Males scored significantly higher than females on the three groups of indicators.
