Effects of accelerating setting additives in concrete f'c 210 kg / cm2 with type I cement in fresh and hardened state, Trujillo 2017

Abstract

In the present investigation, the influence of the percentage and the type of accelerating additive of forge (Euco and Sika) on the compressive strength of concrete made with Pacasmayo Portland type I cement was evaluated. The test pieces were made according to ASTM C39 (Standard Test Method for Compression Resistance of Cylindrical Concrete Specimens), in total 56 test pieces of 15 cm in diameter x 30 cm in height were made of sand, stone ¾ '', cement, water and additives Euco (Accelguard 80) and Sika (Sika Cem Accelerator PE). The replacement percentages used in this investigation were 1, 1.5 and 2% by weight (ANNEX 2). The specimens were allowed to cure from the moment of their demolding (12 hours) to 28 days (for the test pieces to be tested at their final age), to then perform the compression test at 24 hours, 3 days, 7 and 28 days, The test days in which the concrete reaches its design strength (210 kg/cm2) should be taken as the optimum age. From the results obtained, we determined that when the percentage of accelerating additive increased, the resistance to compression increased moderately until 1.5% of replacement, from there the resistance is maintained, this happened for both types of additives. (APPENDIX 3) Finally, it was determined that a concrete with 2.0% Accelguard 80 accelerating additive presents better compression resistance (215.99 Kg/cm2) after 3 days of curing compared to the samples without additive (150.92 Kg/cm2) and that also presents better resistance that a concrete made with additive Sika Cem Accelerante PE containing the same percentage. Concluding that both additives interfere in the strength and time of setting of the concrete but being the Accelguard 80 additive with which better results are obtained.
